Chairman of the State Control Committee of Belarus Vasily Gerasimov took part in the international scientific practical conference "The system of public audit in the context of a new reality", which marks the 25th anniversary of the Accounts Committee for Control over Execution of the Republican Budget of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
At the plenary session, Vasily Gerasimov made a welcoming speech. In his speech, he noted that today one of the most pressing global problems is the coronavirus pandemic. Belarus was able to preserve all the social obligations of the state during this period. At the same time, a lockdown was not introduced in our country and production was not stopped.
“In the context of new realities, accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, including through the transition to a circular economy, is of particular importance. An important role in the solution of these tasks is assigned to the SAIs” stressed the Chairman of Belarus SAI.
According to Vasily Gerasimov, SAIs are able to qualitatively complement national efforts in these matters, exercising independent control, assessing trends in the economy and developing recommendations for the efficient use of public resources.
“The driver of the relevance and significance of SAIs work is the chosen course of strategic audit, improving the efficiency of public administration, auditing responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, the widespread use of modern information technologies,” the head of Belarus SAI summed up his speech.
The conference agenda included Plenary session and after work in 6 thematic sections. The head of the main department for control of the budgetary and financial sphere of the State Control Committee Yulia Avkhukova took part with the report in the section "The role of SAIs in emergencies audit and COVID-19 challenges", where she told about the work of Belarus SAI in the conditions of COVID-19, as well as the measures taken by our country to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. Also, representatives of the State Control Committee of Belarus took part in the sections "Current issues of public audit in the context of informatization of the economy" and "Professionalization of auditors and current issues of personnel training in the field of public auditing".
The conference was attended by representatives of 27 SAIs, including the heads of the SAIs of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Portugal, Estonia, as well as representatives of 7 international organizations and 11 higher educational institutions. All news
