The Chairman of the State
Control Committee Vasiliy Gerasimov, employees of the control authority and
financial investigation body laid flowers at the memorial stone. The memory of
the victims of the genocide of the Belarusian people was commemorated with a
minute of silence.
This place, located a few
kilometres from the village of Maly Trostenets, was the site of mass executions
of civilians - not only residents of Belarus, but also deportees from Germany,
Austria and Czechoslovakia. There were found 34 grave pits, some of them up to
50 metres long. Only a few people managed to escape by a miracle.
The memorial complex
"Blagovshchina" was opened in 2018.
