Chairman of the State Control Committee Vasily Gerasimov took part in the 20th session of the Council of Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions of the CIS countries. The event was held today in the format of videoconference. The session was attended by the heads of supreme audit institutions of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia and Uzbekistan.
The main topic of the session was the issues of ensuring independence of state control and audit. Heads of SAIs made reports, in which they informed about peculiarities of control and audit activity in reflection on the issues of independence of supreme audit institutions.
In his speech Vasily Gerasimov noted that the independence of the control body of Belarus is ensured by legislation - the State Control Committee is a constitutional body accountable to the President of Belarus. The head of the SCC informed about the functions, tasks and powers of the State Control Committee, noting that the agency coordinates the work of all control and supervisory bodies in the country.
In carrying out control and analytical activities, the emphasis is put on the prevention of offences, while in its activities the State Control Committee not only identifies violations, but also uncovers problems and develops proposals for their solution. The State Control Committee also ensures that the decisions taken by the agency are implemented.
At the end of his speech, Vasily Gerasimov added that supreme audit institutions are able to qualitatively complement national efforts and positive results for the sustainable development of their countries.
Also during the session the participants were informed about the activities of the Working Group on development of standards of state financial control for SAIs of the CIS countries and the Secretariat of the Council. The work plan of the Council between the XX and XXI sessions was discussed.
Following the results of the meeting the Resolution and Decision of the XX session of the Council were adopted.
