The Belarusian delegation took part in a meeting of the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism

Today the Plenary Week of the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and Financing of Terrorism finished its work in Almaty (Kazakhstan). More than 200 delegates from 20 countries (EAG member-states and observer countries) and 13 observer organizations took part in this large-scale intergovernmental forum, uniting financial intelligence units (FIUs) of the Eurasian region. The Belarusian delegation was represented by Vyacheslav Reut, Director of the Department of Financial Monitoring (FIU of Belarus) of the State Control Committee, representatives of the Department of Financial Monitoring and Department of Financial Investigations, as well as state and law enforcement bodies. The Plenary approved the reports on mutual estimation of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan on conformity to the international standards in the sphere of counteraction to money-laundering and terrorism financing (AML/CFT). The representatives of the State Control Committee of Belarus were among the international experts who conducted the assessment of anti-money laundering systems of these states. The plenary meeting approved the results of the typological project "Typologies and topical issues of combating the financing of terrorism". Report on the EAG activities in 2022 as well as Work Plan of the organization for the second half of 2023 and for 2024 were approved. At the meeting the high importance of joint work of EAG with the Council of the Heads of Financial Intelligence Units (CFU) of the CIS countries was noted. It was decided to give the CIS FISRS an observer status in the Eurasian Group. The issues of III International Olympiad on financial security for the students and pupils of CIS countries were discussed. Besides, within the framework of the EAG Plenary session the II Forum of Parliamentary Committees of the EAG countries was held. Representatives of the Council of the Republic and the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus participated in the Forum in the online format. Next 39th EAG Plenary meeting will be held in November in the People's Republic of China. For information The Eurasian group on combating money laundering and financing of terrorism was created in 2004. The are 9 member- states of EAG: Belarus, India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Belarus is represented in EAG by the Financial Monitoring Department of the State Control Committee.
