Employees of the State Control Committee took part in requiem rally to commemorate the victims of the Great Patriotic War, which took place on May 5, 2022 at the Trostenets memorial complex. "Trostenets" is the largest place of mass extermination of people in the territory of Belarus during the Nazi occupation and one of the largest concentration camps in Europe. The death camp on this site functioned until the end of June 1944. According to various estimates, from 206 thousand to 546 thousand people died here. "It’s scary to imagine what these people went through. Red Army soldiers, underground partisans, and Jews were brought to this death camp from everywhere, – "Vasily Gerasimov, Chairman of the State Control Committee, noted in his speech during the requiem rally. He addressed the young guys participating in the rally: "We all must honor and remember our history. After all, this land is saturated with tears and blood. Inessa Georgievna Kulago, a prisoner of the concentration camp and a witness of those terrible events, also addressed the participants of the requiem. Today she is the head of the organization of the public association "Belarusian Association of Former Underage Prisoners of Fascism" of Zavodsky district. During the requiem rally, employees of the State Control Committee honored the memory of the victims of fascism with a minute of silence. Flowers and a wreath were laid at the Gates of Memory monument from representatives of -the State Control Committee.
