28.06.2017 Chairman of the State Control Committee Leonid Anfimov met with Auditor General of Latvia Elita KrūmiņaThe delegation of the State Audit Office of Latvia headed by Auditor General Mrs. Elita Krūmiņa visited the Republic of Belarus.
On 27 June 2017 Chairman of the State Control Committee of Belarus Leonid Anfimov held a working meeting with Mrs. Elita Krūmiņa, Auditor General of Latvia. During the meeting, the Heads of SAIs discussed the issues of the activities of two agencies, as well as prospects for joint cooperation.
The Latvian delegation was particularly interested in the information on the interaction between the State Control Committee of Belarus and law enforcement agencies (taking into account the fact that the State Control Committee includes a law enforcement agency - the Financial Investigation Department and the Financial Intelligence - the Financial Monitoring Department), as well as information on liability for violations detected in the course of audits.
It should be noted that cooperation between the SAIs of Belarus and Latvia is developing on a bilateral and multilateral basis. So, in 2009 was signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the State Control Committee of Belarus and the State Audit Office of Latvia. In addition, the SAIs of Belarus and Latvia cooperate within the framework of the EUROSAI and INTOSAI working groups.
The State Audit Office of the Republic of Latvia is an independent collegial supreme audit institution, a key element in the State’s financial control system serving public interest by providing independent assurance on the effective and useful utilization of central and local government resources.
Mrs. Elita Krūmiņa was appointed a Auditor General of Latvia in 2013.
It should be noted that the visit of the State Control of Latvia to Belarus took place in the year of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Latvia.
